# Jeonju Hanok Village Guide: Getting There, Parking, Hours
Jeonju Hanok Village is open 24 hours a day, all year. Its main ticketed site, Gyeonggijeon Shrine, closes at 18:00 from November to February (last entry 17:00), and adults pay KRW 3,000.
Most visitors worry about two things: how to get there from Seoul without a car, and where to park if they do drive. This guide covers both, plus tickets, hanbok rental and what is on after dark, with every fact checked on October 28, 2026 against official sources.

Two ways to read this guide. If you are coming from Seoul without a car, start with *From Seoul*, because the bus stop name is what you show the driver. If you are driving, go straight to *Driving*, because the cheapest lot is not in the village.
Jeonju Hanok Village from Seoul: get off at the Jeondong Cathedral stop

The map pins the village in Jeonbuk State, southwest of Seoul. The village's own page gives the air routes as a limousine bus: about 3 hours 20 minutes from Gimpo Airport and about 3 hours 50 minutes from Incheon Airport.
From the train station or the express bus terminal, the official page tells you to get off at the same place. It describes the station route like this:
Boarding point: Jeonju Station (전주역) platform. Get off in front of Jeondong Cathedral (Hanok Village). Bus numbers: 112, 79, 508, 536, 542, 545, 546, 101, 119, 999 (about 25 minutes). Original (Korean): 버스타는 곳 : 전주역 승강장 → 전동성당(한옥마을)앞 하차 — Jeonju Hanok Village · Directions
So the stop to remember is Jeondong Cathedral (전동성당). Show those Korean characters to a bus or taxi driver if you are unsure.
From the express bus terminal
The same page gives the terminal route: at the Jeonju Express Bus Terminal (전주고속버스터미널), board at the stop in front of the Buddhist Hall (불교회관) and get off at Jeondong Cathedral. Buses 79, 999 and 1994 take about 15 minutes. A taxi is estimated at KRW 5,000 to 6,000.
| From | Official travel time | Where to arrive |
|---|---|---|
| Gangnam (Central City) | About 2 hours 40 minutes by express bus | Jeonju Express Bus Terminal |
| Gimpo Airport | About 3 hours 20 minutes by limousine bus | Jeonju |
| Incheon Airport | About 3 hours 50 minutes by limousine bus | Jeonju |
| Yongsan Station | About 1 hour 40 minutes by KTX | Jeonju Station |
The train is the fastest option, and the city's transport page gives the time:
Seoul to Jeonju takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. Search from Yongsan Station: KTX trains to Jeonju run more often from Yongsan than from Seoul Station, and a Seoul Station search can make trains look sold out. Original (Korean): 서울에서 전주까지 약 1시간 40분이 소요되며 — Visit Jeonju · Transport to Jeonju
VisitKorea gives the same time for Yongsan Station to Jeonju Station. Foreign visitors can book on the Korail website or the Korail Talk app in English, Chinese or Japanese without a Korean phone number, using a passport and an email address (Visit Jeonju). Seats sell out on weekends, holidays and festival days, and on the day you may only get a standing ticket.
Unverified: the KTX fare from Yongsan to Jeonju. The village page, Visit Jeonju and VisitKorea give no price, and Korail shows fares only after you search a date. Search "Yongsan" to "Jeonju" on Korail or the Korail Talk app to see the price before you pay, or call the Korail information center at 1544-7788.
Driving to Jeonju Hanok Village: the free lot is 2.5 km away by shuttle
The three paid lots next to the village charge the same rate, and the free lot is a shuttle ride away. The city's parking page lists the free option and the shuttle in one place:
Route: Hanok Village 4th Public Parking Lot (former Daeseong lot) to the Omokdae shuttle stop (2.5 km). Operating time: 10:00 to 18:30 (last bus). Eligible users: Hanok Village tourists arriving by car only, free of charge. Original (Korean): 한옥마을 제4공영주차장(前대성주차장) ↔ 오목대 셔틀버스 승강장(2.5KM) — Jeonju Hanok Village · Parking and shuttle bus

The table below is the whole decision. Lots 1 to 3 charge KRW 1,200 for the first 30 minutes and KRW 600 for each extra 15 minutes, up to KRW 14,400 a day.
| Lot | Hours | Fee | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lots 1, 2 and 3 | 24 hours | Up to KRW 14,400 a day | Closest to the village |
| Lot 4 (former Daeseong lot) | Not stated | Free | Shuttle to Omokdae, 2.5 km |
| Roadside lot | Summer 10:00 to 19:00, winter 09:00 to 18:00 | Same rate, up to KRW 14,400 | On-street |
| Nambu Market stream-side lot | 24 hours | Up to KRW 5,000 a day | First 30 minutes free |
| Nambu Market lot | 24 hours | Up to KRW 6,000 a day | 60 minutes free with a coupon |
Set your navigation to the Korean names: 전주한옥마을공영주차장 (99 Girin-daero) or 전주한옥마을 대성공영주차장 (5299 Chunhyang-ro). The shuttle runs every day all year, with one vehicle on weekdays and four on weekends and public holidays. If you arrive by tour bus, the page asks you to get off at the tour bus stop on Girin-daero instead.
The last shuttle leaves the Daeseong lot at 18:30, and the last bus from the Taejo-ro stop is 18:40. If you plan to stay for the evening events below, either pay for a closer lot or walk the 2.5 km back.
Gyeonggijeon Shrine: the one site with a closing time and a ticket

Gyeonggijeon (경기전) is a shrine that enshrines the portrait of Taejo, the founder of the Joseon dynasty. The city's tourism page says it was designated Historic Site No. 339 on January 9, 1991.

The Korea Tourism Organization's description says the village grew up around three heritage sites in the early 1900s: Gyeonggijeon, Omokdae and Jeonjuhyanggyo (a Confucian academy). That is why the shrine is the natural first stop, and why its closing time sets your day.
Practical info: Gyeonggijeon Shrine
| Item | Gyeonggijeon Shrine |
|---|---|
| Korean name | 경기전 (show this to taxi drivers) |
| Address | 44 Taejo-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si (전주시 완산구 태조로 44) |
| Hours | Nov to Feb: 09:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00. Mar to May and Sep to Oct: 09:00 to 19:00, last entry 18:00. Jun to Aug: 09:00 to 20:00, last entry 19:00 |
| Admission | Adults KRW 3,000, teenagers and soldiers KRW 2,000, children KRW 1,000 (as of October 2026) |
| Booking | The city page mentions no reservation for daytime entry |
| Phone | +82-63-281-2788 |
| Official site | Visit Jeonju · Gyeonggijeon |
Those prices are for people who do not live in Jeonju or Wanju County; residents pay KRW 1,000, 800 and 500. The page also lists two discounts:
Free admission on the last Wednesday of every month ("Culture Day"). 50% off on the fourth Saturday of every month ("Jeonju Hanbok Day"). Original (Korean): 매월 마지막주 수요일 '문화가 있는 날' 기념 무료 관람 / 매월 4째주 토요일 '전주시 한복의 날' 기념 관람료 50% 할인 — Visit Jeonju · Gyeonggijeon
By our own count from that rule, November 2026 has a free day on Wednesday, November 25 and a half-price day on Saturday, November 28. The page does not say whether wearing hanbok changes the Saturday price, so do not count on it.
The closing time is the one hard limit in the village. From November to February, a 16:45 arrival still fits, but a 17:15 arrival does not. The streets themselves stay open, so a late arrival can still walk the lanes.
If you also plan to visit other paid sites, the village page lists a Jeonbuk Tour Pass for the Jeonju Hanok Village area that includes a Gyeonggijeon ticket. It shows KRW 4,200 to 8,000 without saying which ticket type costs which, so ask at the Gyeonggijeon, Omokdae or Hanok Village information centers.
What your arrival time means
The table uses only the official numbers for November to February: last entry 17:00, last shuttle 18:30 from the free lot and 18:40 from the Taejo-ro stop. It leaves out how long you will want inside the shrine, which no official page states.
| You reach the Jeondong Cathedral stop | What still works | What does not |
|---|---|---|
| Before 16:45 | Buy a Gyeonggijeon ticket, then walk the lanes | Nothing is lost, but start with the shrine |
| 17:00 to 18:30 | The lanes (open 24 hours) and the programs listed in the next section | Gyeonggijeon (no new entry after 17:00) |
| After 18:30 with a car in Lot 4 | The lanes, a taxi back to your car | The free shuttle (last bus 18:30 from the lot, 18:40 from Taejo-ro) |
If you are cutting it close, treat 16:45 as a warning: one missed bus can put you past 17:00. Other sites close early in winter too; our Andong Hahoe Folk Village Guide: Winter Hours, Fees, From Seoul shows how to work backward from a 17:00 closing.
Hanbok rental: many shops, but the city publishes no prices

Photo: Jjw, CC BY 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
The village's hanbok page describes the choice, and it names no shop:
There are many costume rental shops in Jeonju Hanok Village, from elegant traditional hanbok to modernized hanbok, as well as modern-era costumes and school uniforms. Original (Korean): 전주한옥마을에는 고급스럽고 예쁜 전통한복부터 감각적인 개량한복 뿐 아니라 근대의상과 교복체험까지 다양한 의상대여점이 많답니다! — Jeonju Hanok Village · Hanbok experience
The same page tells you to walk into any shop you like and put the outfit on. We looked at this page and the city tourism site and found no rental prices, hours or deposits, so none are given here. Prices are set by each shop (our reading of the pages; they publish none).
Before you pay, ask three things (our own checklist, not an official rule). How long is the rental. By what time must it be returned. Does the price include shoes and hair accessories.
If you want to visit Gyeonggijeon in hanbok, ask the shop about its return time first. From November to February the shrine's last entry is 17:00. For how a Seoul palace treats visitors in hanbok, see our Gyeongbokgung Palace Guide 2026: Hours, Tickets, Hanbok Rules.
After 17:00 and on weekends: what is actually scheduled

Photo: *Youngjin, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
The village homepage lists "regular content" for September to November. Three items are useful for an evening or a weekend:
- Saturday show at the Daesaseupcheong outdoor stage: Saturdays, 4 p.m. in May, June, October and November. Admission KRW 10,000; tickets at jjdssch.or.kr.
- Gyeonggijeon Starlight (경기전 별빛누빔): Friday nights at Gyeonggijeon, KRW 10,000 per person, with entry at 19:30 or 20:30 from September to November.
- Wanpanbon Culture Museum exhibition: Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00, September 11 to November 29.
The Starlight event is a separate evening ticket, so the daytime Gyeonggijeon ticket and closing time do not apply to it. The city's event page gives the details:
Event period: Fridays, June to November 2026, at night. September to November: first entry 7:30 p.m., second entry 8:30 p.m. Fee: KRW 10,000 per person. Tickets: Ticketlink. Inquiries: 063-255-5853 (weekdays 10:00 to 18:00). Original (Korean): 참가비 : 1인 10,000원 / 예매처 : 티켓링크 — Visit Jeonju · Gyeonggijeon Starlight
Cancellations and refunds follow Ticketlink's rules, according to the same page, and the event page says details are listed under "Details" on the ticketing site. Book before you plan an evening around it.
The traditional performance parade (Saturdays at 15:00, from the Namcheongyo bridge to Gyeonggijeon) is listed from April 18 to October 31, 2026, so it is not scheduled for November.
For a car-free evening, note that the Taejo-ro shuttle stop's last bus is 18:40. After that you need a taxi or the city buses back to the station.
Help on the ground: phone numbers and information centers
The village information center is at 99 Girin-daero. The village's page also says you can ask questions through the KakaoTalk channel named 전주한옥마을, with weekend chat support from 09:00 to 18:00.
If you use a wheelchair or push a stroller, note that none of the village or city pages we read describe step-free routes or accessible entrances. Ask the information center before you go, so you can plan the lanes and the shrine in the right order.

FAQ
Is Jeonju Hanok Village free to enter?
The streets are open 24 hours and the pages we read list no fee for them. Gyeonggijeon is ticketed: KRW 3,000 for adults (as of October 2026), free on the last Wednesday of each month.
Can I visit Jeonju Hanok Village as a day trip from Seoul?
Yes. The official page gives about 2 hours 40 minutes by express bus from Gangnam, so the round trip is about 5 hours 20 minutes by our arithmetic. In winter, plan to reach Gyeonggijeon before 17:00.
Where can I park for free?
Lot 4, the former Daeseong lot, is free, and a free shuttle links it to the Omokdae stop from 10:00 to 18:30. The shuttle is for people arriving by car.
Can I rent hanbok in the village?
Yes, the village's page says there are many rental shops, from traditional to modernized hanbok. The city publishes no prices, so check the price board at the shop.
When is Gyeonggijeon free or discounted?
It is free on the last Wednesday of every month and half price on the fourth Saturday. In November 2026 those are November 25 and November 28 by our count from the rule.
Before you go: checklist
