# Jeju Olle Walking Festival 2026: Join After Registration Closes

The Jeju Olle Walking Festival 2026 runs November 5 to 7 on Olle Routes 19 and 20. Online sign-up closed October 9, but cash registration is offered at the venue while souvenirs last.

If you found this festival late, you probably have three worries: whether you can still take part, how to reach the start without the festival shuttle, and when you must finish each day. This guide answers them in the order you will meet them, using the festival's own English and Korean pages checked on October 24, 2026, plus Jeju's official tourism pages.

Two ways to read this guide. If you already registered, jump to *Day 1*. If you missed the online deadline, read *Pre-registration is closed* first, because the organizer says on-site registration may close early.

Pre-registration is closed, but you can still join the Jeju Olle Walking Festival 2026

Yes, you can still take part. The organizer offers on-site registration at an operation booth at the venue, and it separates the shows (open to all) from the souvenirs (registered walkers only).

All the entertainment elements of the Jeju Olle Walking Festival are open to everyone, including those who have not registered. However, only registered participants are eligible to receive festival souvenirs. — Jeju Olle Foundation, 2026 festival page

Here is what changes if you register on site. The scarf, route 19 and 20 label, pouch and sports towel are for registered walkers, one set per person regardless of how many days you walk.

Item Pre-registration (closed) On-site registration
Regular fee KRW 30,000 KRW 35,000
Discounted fee KRW 25,000 KRW 30,000
Payment OLLE PASS app Cash only
Who gets the discount Groups of 20 or more, people under 19 (ID or passport), people with disabilities Same groups

The booth has limits that you should plan around, and the organizer states them in two separate notes. The first is about numbers.

On-site registration is very limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. — Jeju Olle Foundation, 2026 festival page

The second note is about souvenirs: on-site registration "may close early depending on souvenir availability". Unverified: the booth's opening hours on Days 1 and 2 and how many places remain. The official page does not list them; call the Jeju Olle Foundation at +82-64-762-2190 or email jejuolle@jejuolle.org before you travel.

Meal tickets follow a different rule. The pre-order period ended October 9, and on-site payment for meal tickets is not accepted. Day 1 lunch is available only by pre-order, while snacks are sold on site for cash. Bring your own lunch or snacks.

Here is a typical case. You land in Jeju on the evening of November 4 and cannot get a shuttle seat. You take a public bus to the start, pay cash at the booth, and walk with the group. The only things you miss are the pre-order lunch and the shuttle.

Without the shuttle, take bus 101 to Jocheon Transfer Station

The festival shuttle is pre-order only, and the listed ordering window ended October 19. The official shuttle page says tickets cannot be bought on site, and warns that parking and public transportation are very limited during the festival.

Map of South Korea with Jocheon on Jeju Island marked, showing Korea's airports and main intercity bus terminals

The map shows Jocheon on Jeju Island, south of the Korean peninsula. Jeju International Airport (CJU) is where the bus below starts, and the festival's own Day 1 shuttle also leaves from the airport's coach parking zone C10.

Visit Jeju's page for Course 19 gives the route to the Day 1 start:

take bus 101 from Jeju International Airport or Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal — Visit Jeju, Jeju Olle Course 19

The same page says to get off at Jocheon Transfer Station (조천환승정류장(조천리사무소) in the Korean version) and walk about five minutes. From Seogwipo, the page gives the same bus 101 and the same stop. Visit Korea's city bus guide, dated 02/04/2025 on the page, adds that bus 101 stops at Platform 2 in front of Gate 2 on the first floor of the airport, and that Hamdeok Beach is ten stops from the airport, about 40 minutes.

Pay attention to the fare system, which changed in 2024:

all city buses operating in Jeju no longer accept bus fare in cash — Visit Korea, Jeju's East Coast Itinerary by City Bus

To pay, scan the QR code near the driver, enter the fare (KRW 2,000 for bus 101, KRW 1,150 for the regular bus 201, both as listed in that article) and show the result screen to the driver. Unverified: the travel time from the airport to Jocheon Transfer Station and whether the fares changed after that article; check Naver Map or the Jeju bus system at bus.jeju.go.kr.

Leave early on Day 1. The opening ceremony is at 09:20 at the start point.

Day 1, Thursday November 5: Jeju Olle Trail Route 19, 13 km, finish by 16:00

Day 1 follows Route 19 in the forward direction from Jocheon Manse Dongsan to the Dongbok-ri Sports Center (동복리 체육센터). The festival lists 13 km and 4 to 5 hours, difficulty two stars out of three. The Korean page puts the average Olle walking pace at 2.5 to 3 km an hour.

Time Place What the festival lists
09:20 to 09:40 Jocheon Manse Dongsan Opening ceremony
11:00 to 12:30 Grassy area, Hamdeok Beach Traditional games with prizes for completing the challenge
12:00 to 13:00 Seoubong Pavilion Photo zone
13:00 to 14:00 Neobeunsungi April 3rd historic site Talk on Bukchon-ri during the Jeju April 3rd Incident
14:00 to 17:00 Dongbok-ri Sports Center Finish area, closing stage shows

If you arrive by bus 101 and want a shorter day, Hamdeok Beach is on this route and its events run from 11:00. Visit Jeju lists Hamdeok at 6 km from the start of Course 19.

The finish rule matters more than the pace. Please arrive at the finish by 16:00, which is when all activities close, and the last shuttle leaves at 16:20.

Please arrive at the finish point by 4 pm, when all activities close. Last Shuttle: 4:20 pm. — Jeju Olle Foundation, Day 1

The Planning page says "make sure to be at a finishing point by 5p.m." This guide uses the stricter time, 16:00. The program may change with weather or performers, the page notes.

Lunch is at Haedong-pogu port (해동포구) in Bukchon-ri, by pre-order only. The Day 1 pre-order menu was octopus porridge (KRW 12,000) or a vegan hijiki and tofu porridge (KRW 10,000).

Day 2, Friday November 6: Routes 19 and 20, 11.5 km

Day 2 starts where Day 1 ended, at the Dongbok-ri Sports Center (동복리 체육센터, near 1717 Dongbok-ri, Gujwa-eup) and finishes at Jeju Batdam Theme Park (제주밭담테마공원, 1400-14 Woljeong-ri). The festival lists 11.5 km and 3.5 to 4 hours.

The route crosses Gimnyeong Seopogu Port, where Route 20 begins. Lunch is at the Gujwa Gymnasium (구좌체육관) in Gimnyeong-ri, again by pre-order (gimbap, KRW 10,000).

The finish rule changes on Day 2. The Korean page still sets 16:00 as the arrival time, but the last shuttle leaves at 15:20, and shuttle riders must follow that time.

Please arrive at the end point by 16:00, when all activities finish. Original (Korean): 모든 일정이 종료되는 16시까지 종점에 도착해 주세요. — Jeju Olle Foundation, Day 2 (Korean)

At the finish park, a Woljeong-ri village talk on Jeju's stone field walls (free) runs three times, at 13:00, 13:40 and 14:20. The Korean page allows 9 people per session: 5 who booked ahead and 4 who register on site.

Day 3, Saturday November 7: Jeju Olle Trail Route 20 in reverse, 12.9 km

Day 3 walks Route 20 backwards, from the start point at 471-31 Sangdo-ri to Jeju Batdam Theme Park. The festival lists 12.9 km and 4 to 5 hours. Lunch is at the Haengwon-ri Fishing Village Cooperative (행원리어촌계).

The start point has two names. The English pages call it the Jeju Haenyeo Museum, while the Korean pages call it 제주해녀항일운동기념공원 (Jeju Haenyeo Anti-Japanese Movement Memorial Park) at the same address. Trust the Korean name and the address when you ask a taxi driver or search a map app.

The Korean page also says the Day 3 morning operation booth, where souvenirs are collected, is at that park. Plan to arrive before you start walking.

Day 3 runs backwards, so follow the orange arrows, not the blue ones. A blue arrow points the other way on this stretch.

What to bring and wear for a windy November walk

The planning page of the festival gives these items. Here are the ones that matter for a visitor:

  • Cash. On-site registration and snacks are cash only.
  • ID or passport. The organizer checks ID before handing out souvenirs, and under-19 discounts need ID or a passport.
  • Warm layers and a raincoat. The organizer says the island is "quite windy in the autumn" and the weather is capricious.
  • Trekking or non-slippery shoes. Trekking shoes are recommended for safety; non-slippery shoes are enough for a short walk.
  • A cup or tumbler. Free tea and drinks go to people who bring their own.
  • The OLLE PASS app. It is available in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish.
  • Travel insurance. The organizer says hikers are responsible for their own safety.

Also bring a bag for your trash. The organizer asks walkers to take their own litter out.

How to follow the Jeju Olle Trail signs

You do not need to read Korean to follow the trail. The official guide describes five signs, and they also work if you walk the route on a day when the festival is not running:

  • Ganse (간세): a pony-shaped marker that points the direction at forks.
  • Ribbons: blue for the sea and orange for Jeju's tangerines, tied to trees and poles above eye level.
  • Arrows: a blue arrow shows the forward direction. Orange arrows point the reverse way, which is what you follow on Day 3.
  • Detour signs: placed at hazards or temporary detours; double orange ribbons guide you.
  • Stamp Ganse: stamp stations at the start, middle and end of each route. Collecting all three stamps for all routes in the Jeju Olle Passport earns a finisher's certificate and a medal.

An "S" on the Ganse's saddle marks the start of a wheelchair-accessible section and an "F" marks the finish. Unverified: which festival sections are wheelchair or stroller friendly. The pages do not say; email jejuolle@jejuolle.org.

Three phrases help on the bus and at the booth:

  • 감사합니다 (gamsahamnida): thank you
  • 현장 접수 어디예요? (hyeonjang jeopsu eodiyeyo?): where is on-site registration?
  • 이 버스 조천 가요? (i beoseu Jocheon gayo?): does this bus go to Jocheon?

FAQ

Can I join without pre-registration? Yes. On-site registration is sold at the venue for KRW 35,000, cash only, and the shows are open to everyone.

Is it free to watch? The organizer says all entertainment elements are open to everyone, including people who have not registered, and the pages list no admission price for them. Souvenirs, meal tickets and the shuttle need a purchase.

Do I have to walk all three days? Unverified: the official pages list one fee and do not mention day passes, and the souvenir rule says one per participant regardless of how many days you walk. Ask the organizer (+82-64-762-2190) before you plan a single day.

Can I pay by card at the booth? No. The official page says on-site registration is cash only.

What if it rains? Bring a raincoat. The festival says programs may change with weather and performers, and it does not list a rain plan.

Before you go: checklist

  • Email or call the organizer about on-site registration (+82-64-762-2190).
  • Withdraw enough cash for KRW 35,000 and snacks.
  • Save 조천만세동산 and the Day 2 and Day 3 finish park 제주밭담테마공원 in your map app.
  • Set up the QR payment for city buses, because buses no longer take cash.
  • Pack a raincoat, warm layers, trekking shoes, a cup and ID or passport.
  • Plan to reach each day's finish by 16:00, and 15:20 or 15:50 if you ride the Day 2 or Day 3 shuttle.
